Ian spent much of his career in the financial world the City of London and the West End. He was involved in general insurance and then financial planning before joining the senior management team of a large insurance group.

He subsequently established his own business consultancy, then studied website design before making a complete change of direction when he trained as a commercial helicopter pilot.

He later spent several years building his own fixed wing aeroplane which he now flies regularly.

After qualifying as a guide, he currently concentrates on taking groups around London - on the ground!

Ian's wife is an artist and he regards himself as her chief bag carrier when she transports her paintings to various exhibitions. He also offers criticism of her work which is often ignored.
